Aster Group HR team shortlisted as Housing Heroes

Aster Group’s HR team has another achievement in its sights. Following on from securing Group-wide Investor in People status and helping Aster achieve recognition in the UK Best Companies 2009 awards, earlier this year, the HR team has been shortlisted from more than 300 entries to the Housing Heroes Awards. Aster is the only company in the south west to be shortlisted.

Housing Heroes is a new awards scheme launched this year that aims to shine the spotlight on the people and teams that are doing great work in the social/affordable housing sector. Aster’s HR team has been shortlisted as one of six companies in the HR Team of The Year category.

The event is organised by Inside Housing magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), and attracted a phenomenal response with submissions from the length and breadth of the UK.

Inside Housing’s events director Ted Stevens said: “All the finalists have done brilliantly in getting this far. Well done to Aster Group for getting shortlisted. The competition was really fierce with well over 50 entries in some categories.”

Commenting on the HR team’s success, Group HR Director Brian Whittaker said “It is a real privilege to work in an organisation where the senior team have a genuine commitment to be employers of choice. This has challenged us to deliver in terms of the level of service we provide.

The winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on 10 June. The ceremony will be hosted by TV presenter and former politician Michael Portillo
