Aster Group and Sarsen Housing Association have started re-developing the first of many former garage sites in Bristol that will provide up to 600 affordable homes, as part of the Bristol Garage Strategy Project.

The old garages at Comyn Walk, in the Fishponds area of city, have been demolished and construction has started on three, 3-bedroom, family homes for affordable rent. The homes are being built by Leadbitter Homes and should be completed during the autumn of this year.

The scheme will cost £480,000 and has been supported by £267,000 of grant through the Homes and Communities Agency and Bristol City Council.

All 300 of the council’s garage sites across the city will be looked at as part of a long term strategy. So far planning consent has been secured for 14 other garage sites to be re-developed as part of the Garage Strategy Project.
